"The album is sonically gorgeous.."

.."Milestones, the newest release from Volume Five on Mountain Fever Records. It is packed snout to tail with songs from the top writers in bluegrass, sung by Glenn Harrell, who is emerging as one of the most convincing vocalists in the music, and played by as choice a rhythm section as we have on offer."

Album Review by Black Rose Acoustic

"Formed in 2008 by lead vocalist and fiddler Glen Harrell, Volume Five has released their fifth album Voices on Mountain Fever Records. Volume Five was nominated for two IBMA awards in 2014 for Emerging Artist of the Year and Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year. Glen Harrell’s vocals and his accompanying band mates combine for tightknit playing on every one of the twelve songs on this latest release. Although a traditional band, their song selection draws from a variety of contemporary writers. I especially liked “King of California,” “Crazy Night” and “Satan’s Ridge.” Their guitarist Colby Laney wrote the only original tune on the album, a lively instrumental--“Sam’s Gap.” With endorsements from Rhonda Vincent (who supplied guest vocals on one track) and Balsam Ridge vocalist Buddy Melton, this band has some enthusiastic admirers. I’m now one of them." - Black Rose Acoustic

Album Review by Bluegrass Today

"Volume Five is one of those acts that consistently turn out headliner-quality music.....Their original music is clever and compelling, they can pick with the best of them, and their vocals are top tier. Perhaps their latest CD, Voices, will be the one that earns them the wider recognition they deserve. Released earlier this week on Mountain Fever Records, the album highlights their skill at writing, selecting, arranging, and performing modern bluegrass with a distinctive sound.....Every song here is a winner, perfectly executed and recorded. I hope to see several tracks on the charts over the course of this year.."
